I have always loved sport and as a teenager I swam at county level. I played many sports into my teenage years but life then changed drastically for me when in my late teens I lost both my parents. I turned away from sport, subconsciously deciding the best way to cope was to binge on food and drink. My weight increased, I lost all my fitness and my confidence began to plummet. Aged 22 and heading down a route I didn't want to head down I had to face up to the person I had become, regain my fitness and tackle my diet. Trust me when I say I know how hard it is, I couldn't run a 100m without fear of collapsing. Fast forward 20 years and I weigh a healthy 80kg. I regularly compete in Full and half distance Ironman's as well as having been lucky enough to compete as a GB age grouper in New Zealand and Canada. I have worked as a personal trainer since 2009 and began triathlon coaching in 2010 after falling in love with the variety of the sport. I was lucky enough to start a triathlon club with over 110 members several of whom have gone onto win Kona and 70.3 world championship spots. I worked for a major Fitness company in UK, regularly putting in over 70 hours a week, sometimes struggling to juggle my work commitments and my training, so in 2015 I decided to leave the large company and begin my own Triathlon coaching business. Allowing me to follow my values and ethics rather then that of a huge PLC. I have over my sporting life suffered many injury's, from a bad football tackle which resulted in major ankle surgery, and subsequent permanent lack of dorsal flexion, not to mention double knee surgery. My partner suffered a severe fall from her horse in 2015, resulting in a broken back and 7 months in a spinal brace so it's fair to say I am confident at helping athletes work around injury. (She subsequently went on to complete her first 70.3 in 2016 and was a GB age grouper in 2017.) When i'm not training I spend my life in the rural English countryside where I share my life with my long term Partner, our 2 cats and 2 horses. We love to travel and try to chose events in a country we have not visited before so that we can wrap a holiday around the event.
